Memorial
Poem:
High and low
pitched tones from my radio awaken me.
To the common
ear this would be an irritating noise,
But to the
seasoned firefighter it is the call to duty.
It is time to
save another life and slay another dragon;
I automatically
slip on my fire gear and wonder
What kind of a
scene I am about to respond to.
Over the years I
have seen some horrifying fires,
But in the end,
I slayed the dragon and saved helpless lives.
If I didn't
respond to this call I wouldn't be doing my duty.
no matter how
early or late in the day, how hot or cold, or
What the weather
may be, I will do my best to slay the dragon
And save an
innocent life, for that is my duty as a firefighter.
My teammates
will meet me at the scene; the are my brothers.
They are my
eyes, ears, and my right hand.
They help me
slay the dragon, for without them I could not do this.
When it comes to
a fire, we set aside our differences and become as one.
They are my
saving grace.
We save lives
and slay the dragon together.
